The Trailer History | Pancake Breakfast Update
The Fraser River Valley Lions Club’s #2 pancake trailer has been in service since 2012. It replaced a 1954 trailer that was converted in 1984. That began our Club’s 30 years of serving the best all-you-can-eat pancake breakfasts in all of Grand County. Renovating this newest trailer into a rolling restaurant on wheels took some innovation and teamwork. The windows and microwave were about the only features untouched. This 1989 travel trailer was converted with over 2600 hours of volunteer work by numerous Lions Club members. A $9,500 grant from the Grand Foundation offset about half the cost of the renovation.
As we begin our 5th season using our beautiful yellow and blue pancake trailer, we anticipate another great summer season.
The past 4 years we have served over 10,000 pancake breakfasts – not including those famous seconds. All this is due to 600 volunteers working 2000 hours. The income from the sales has raised approximately $36,000. These profits are given in grants to many Grand County non-profit groups through the Lions Club Foundation.
In 2014 Jeff Browne was instrumental in acquiring for the Lions Club a new big white tent and sold the old yellow and blue tent. The new tent is used at most of our breakfasts next to our trailer and other events we attend.
Our Club serves pancake breakfasts at many local events all summer long. We setup our famous yellow trailer at either Grand Park or Kings Crossing (depending on where the action is) and serve from 7:30 to 11:00 AM. 100% of our profits go to the community.
